This post is to all my MMA/ Cage Fighting friends and family back in Traverse City.
Mixed Martial Arts/ Cage Fighting is an uprising sport. It is a combination of mixed martial arts, jujitsu, Mai Thai, wrestling, boxing, and lots of cardio. If you are looking for a great work out, or if you are interesting in the sport then MMA is something you should look into.

Yes, Girls can pack a punch and bring a knuckle sandwich.
I personally have been training with some great trainers at Great Lakes MMA. I started at the end of February 2010 and I have been with them since. I haven’t been able to train lately with them because of my move. I plan to go back as soon as I am done with school though. I consistently support them by showing up to fights they have in Traverse City and I help out by being “Blood Girl” at the events. Anyway, when I was training with Great Lakes we learned so much stuff, such as learning how to throw punches, throwing knees, control your opponent, learning to breathe (yes, there is a certain way to breathe when you throw punches), learning technique, and terminology. Honestly, I learned so much in one year from going there that I can’t write it all out. I joined at first because I wanted to lose weight. Not did I only lose about 20 lbs, but I made some great friends. It is like a family at Great Lakes. They have kid classes, so everyone is well behaved in front of the kids. Everyone there is really friendly, and the fighters are great athletes.
Submissions or a knock-out are the way to get a win.
I recommend that everyone should take this class, not for just the work out, but it can help you with stress. You get to punch a bag and let out all your steam without really hurting anyone. Girls should take this class if then ever want to learn to defend themselves. Overall, MMA/ Cage Fighting is a great work out and can be fun. If your not a fan of fighting personally, then it makes for good entertainment. If you don’t like fighting period, then you might want to go watch some baseball.
Leave it all on the mat when you get in there.
